  6.     Citibank, largest issuer of credit cards in the U.S.,
  7. announced that as of June 1 it will reward its best customers
  8. with lower credit-card interest rates -- as little as 13.9% for
  9. Preferred Members. Other banks will probably follow, taking the
  10. bite out of congressional complaints about high rates and
  11. starting a war that consumers can win.

  15.     Italy's biggest postwar financial scandal brought down an
  16. industrial titan when Carlo De Benedetti, chairman of Olivetti,
  17. was sentenced to six years and four months in prison for
  18. complicity in the 1982 collapse of Banco Ambrosiano, Italy's
  19. largest private bank. He promises an appeal.
